Sensor Tower Celebrates 10 years: a message from our CEO

In 2023 Sensor Tower celebrated 10 years.

What an incredible journey it’s been so far. While Sensor Tower has undoubtedly seen a lot of change over the past decade, one thing that has remained constant is our commitment to helping our customers answer the most complex questions about the digital economy with our superior mobile app and digital advertising insights.

As we begin our next chapter, I’d like to share a look back at our journey and our outlook for the future.

But first, gratitude

Today Sensor Tower data powers mobile and advertising decisions for tens of thousands of users who log in from 101 countries, including Fortune 100 brands, entertainment conglomerates, media agencies, renowned investors and top gaming studios. Our users, both new and those who have been with us for many years, have pushed Sensor Tower to provide best-in-class, responsibly-sourced data. Thank you for your partnership.

Additionally, I’d like to acknowledge our ingenious, engaged, and authentically customer-minded people at Sensor Tower who have made it all possible. I am very fortunate to be part of what we’ve built for our customers and excited for what’s ahead.

Our roots – to solve the biggest mobile marketing problems

In 2013 when Alexey Malafeev and I started Sensor Tower our goal was to provide the best and most actionable mobile app intelligence. From developing sophisticated app-store optimization (ASO) tools to growing our first-party device panels to better understand app usage, advertising, and engagement behavior – we were laser-focused on mobile apps. Hyper-specialization was common in the early days for data providers, as most provided data on one narrow subcategory (mobile, web, email receipts, credit card purchases, advertising, geolocation, etc)

Our goal – to solve more complex and multifaceted problems

Our view of the industry, along with our company aspirations, started to change in 2021 when Sensor Tower acquired Pathmatics, the leading provider of digital advertising intelligence. Pathmatics is a one-of-a-kind dataset that measures brand level marketing activity across web, mobile, social networks and OTT. With the addition of Pathmatics, Sensor Tower now had direct exposure to two important parts of the digital ecosystem, mobile apps and digital advertising. Not only did we have access to two distinct sets of inputs and data, but an expanded universe of customers. Our work with these customers - spanning from mobile game studios to retail and CPG - has provided us with a greater appreciation of the breadth and complexity of the larger digital economy. This experience, combined with enhanced growth in our number of owned and operated device panel assets, has uniquely positioned Sensor Tower to provide insights on the digital consumer journey

As we move into 2024 and beyond, we see three drivers of Sensor Tower success. First, we will continue to build upon our position as the best and most consistent provider of mobile app intelligence. Second, we see immense opportunities to expand our footprint in the digital advertising space. Thanks to advancements in our panels and data science techniques, we see improvements in data quality, along with new channel and geo launches. Lastly, and perhaps most exciting, we will bring to market new insights and data products that combine multiple sets of inputs to help our customers better understand the digital consumer journey. The first of these products will be Sensor Tower Audience Insights. Slated for wide release in 1Q24, Audience Insights combines mobile app usage and digital advertising data to best answer questions digital marketers have in understanding their audience and their journey from ad exposure to outcomes such as app downloads, purchases and engagement.

Our aspirations – the best is yet to come!

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Sensor Tower story so far. Though not without challenges, this truly has been the experience of a lifetime. We look forward to continuing to provide the industry with high quality data and actionable insights for years to come.
