To maintain your edge in the App Store, you need to know what your competitors are up to. One of the easiest ways to do this is to create a "watch list" that you can check periodically to see their rankings, spy on their keywords and stay on top of their new releases.
This quick tutorial will show you how to use our Track Competitors module. If you prefer the text version, it is after the video.
First, be sure that your app is selected at the top of the screen. If it is not selected, click the green Add New App button or select a previously saved app from drop down list by clicking on the name of the app that is currently shown. In this example, we will use Clash of Clans, as if it was our app.
Then select the Track Competitors module from the slide-out menu on the left side of the screen.
To start tracking a competing app, simply click on the green Track Competitor button. From now on, this app will remain on your Competitors list, unless you Untrack it.
If you are tracking an app and want to untracked it, simply click on the red Untrack button.
When you click on the name of the app publisher, you will see the Publisher Profile Page for that publisher. Clicking on the name of the app will take you to the App Profile Page.
Clicking on the Keyword Spy icon will show you the keywords that your competitor is using.
If you click on the red trash icon, it will hide this app from your list so it isn't cluttered with apps that you are not interested in.
Finally, if there is an app that you want to track that is not on the list, you can add it to the list by searching for it in the search box at the bottom of the list.
We hope that this quick tutorial has given you an easy way to keep tabs on your competition. Check on your list often and you won't be caught off guard.
