We recently added two new features that will streamline your keyword optimization workflow. This post will show you where to find them and how to get the most out of them. The App Store related searches feature is for iOS apps only, but the new Keyword Spy rank tracking feature is for both iOS and Android.
When you use our Keyword Research module to research your iOS keywords, we now show you Apple's related keywords under the keyword input box. When you click on one of these related keywords, it will automatically be loaded into the Keyword Research module. Since these are the keywords that everyone sees when they do a search on an iOS device, it can be a valuable source of keyword ideas.
However, since everyone sees these keywords, they can also be highly competitive. So in many cases, you will have to look at several related searches to find lower competition keywords.
For example, let's say that you have a game that is like Clash of Clans and you want to find some new keywords. Here are the iPhone Difficulty Scores for each of the related searches for the keyword "clash." If you don't understand how our Difficulty Score works, read this post before you continue.
war strategy: 6.5
turn based strategy: 5.5
clan games: 6.7
castle games: 7.4
robot fighting games: 4.0
Even though "robot fighting games" has the lowest Difficulty Score, it is not related to a game like Clash of Clans, so we would not consider that keyword.
But if we click on "war strategy," one of the related searches is the keyword "roman games." When we research that keyword, it has a Difficulty Score of 4.3. It could be a good keyword for a game that is similar to Clash of Clans, so we would certainly consider it.
As you can see, this is a really simple way to find high quality keywords. The best part is that these are the keywords that Apple is suggesting to everyone. If your app can rank well for these keywords, it has a really good chance of getting a lot of organic downloads.
We now display keyword ranking information in the Keyword Spy module. Before we added this feature, you had to add the keywords on the list to the Keyword Rankings module in order to see where an app ranked for those keywords.
Having ranking information available in Keyword Spy means that you don't have to add, then delete the keywords from Keyword Rankings, which saves a lot of time. It also means that those keywords won't count against your keyword limit.
This feature is available for both Google Play and App Store apps
These two new features will speed up your keyword research workflow. We have more new features on the way, so be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook or your favorite RSS reader to get the latest updates.
