We made our App Store Optimization Modules available for other Apple App Store countries last year and we have since been working hard to make similar capabilities available for our Google Play modules. It is finally ready and in this post we will tell you why it is important to make your app available to countries besides the US and show you how to get started.
Internationalization is basically the process of making your app available and useable to people in other countries. The primary benefit of doing this is obvious, it makes your app available to a larger customer base. This is particularly important for Android apps, since Android devices are generally more widely used outside of the US.
If you are new to internationalization and localization, be sure to read our previous posts on how to double your downloads and the localization strategies of the top 10 most valuable apps. Then if you are still not convinced as to the value of internationalization, you can read this article on how one app was able to improve their downloads by over 700% by translating their app.
After you login to Sensor Tower, start by adding your app at the top of the screen by clicking on the green Add New App button.
On the next screen, select your default country and click on the Android button. Then search for your app in the search box and select your app from the list.
To switch to another Google Play country, go to the upper right corner of the screen and click on the flag. A list of countries will appear and you can choose the one you want to research.
These are the menu items that are currently available for Google Play, in Sensor Tower. If you are familiar our iOS modules, you will notice that the Optimize Keywords module is not there. This is because there is no keyword field in Google Play, like there is in iTunes Connect, so optimization works in a completely different way. More on that in future posts.
So that is a quick overview of our Google Play international App Store Optimization modules. We will be writing more tutorials about how to use these Google Play keyword optimization modules and how Google Play App Store Optimization works, in the near future, so stay tuned!
