Meditation app Calm posted record year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter revenue growth during Q1 2019 of 132 percent and 55 percent, respectively, bringing is total user spending for the quarter to nearly $30 million, based on Sensor Tower Store Intelligence estimates.
By comparison, rival app Headspace—the category's second highest grossing entry—saw user spending reach an estimated $13.1 million for the quarter, representing Y/Y growth of 28 percent from $10.2 million in Q1 2018. This was 141 percent more than 1Q18's estimated $8.3 million spent in the app and 67 percent more than the $12 million we show it grossed in 4Q18.
To date, Calm has generated gross user spending of more than $125 million worldwide, excluding third-party Android stores in markets such as China. Headspace currently stands at just over $102 million in total user spend.
