It took Fortnite 90 days to reach $100 million in global player spending on iOS, but just 60 more to add another nine-figure sum to that total. According to Sensor Tower Store Intelligence estimates, the hit multiplayer title from Epic Games has grossed $200 million worldwide on Apple's platform just five months after its mid-March launch.
As our data shows, this spending was predominantly driven by players in the United States, who have spent approximately 63 percent of the total so far. That amounts to about $126 million, which is more than 12 times greater than the $10 million spent by players in the game's second largest country by revenue, Great Britain, at 5 percent of the total. The remaining top five countries by spending are Australia with 3.7 percent, Switzerland with 3.6 percent, and Canada at 3.5 percent of all revenue.
Fortnite's success on iOS so far puts its on par with Supercell's Clash Royale, which also racked up $200 million in player spending during its first five months on Apple's platform. As the chart below shows, this also sets Fortnite ahead of two other prominent iOS multiplayer action games, Tencent's Honor of Kings and NetEase's Knives Out, which grossed $77 million and $65 million in their first five months, respectively.
Based on our estimates, we project that Fortnite stands to gross in excess of $450 million during 2018 on iOS alone, with Apple claiming an additional $75 million in platform fees on top of the $60 million it has made so far since March. As we recently revealed, Google is likely to miss out on at least $50 million in revenue this year alone from Fortnite bypassing Google Play.
