Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Summons More Than $100 Million Since Launch

Jam City's interactive Harry Potter story has grossed $110 million in less than a year, Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data reveals.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Revenue $100 Million

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery from Jam City has conjured up an estimated $110 million in worldwide player spending in less than a year, Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data reveals. It has become the publisher's most lucrative title since its April 2018 release, accounting for approximately 30 percent of all revenue across the App Store and Google Play.

Would-be wizards in the United States have contributed the lion's share of this revenue at close to 48 percent or approximately $52.8 million. Germany and Great Britain rank No. 2 and No. 3, accounting for $10 million and $9.2 million of the total, respectively. Revenue from the game has averaged close to $29 million per month worldwide since we reported the game had made its first $50 million last August.

In terms of downloads, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has racked up close to 45 million to date, led by the U.S. with about 22 percent of those players or nearly 10 million. France and Great Britain round out the top three with 2.9 million and 2.8 million, respectively.

Warner Bros., which recently revealed more on its location-based AR game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, has undoubtedly been keeping a close eye on the performance of Hogwarts Mystery. Despite being substantially different in terms of core gameplay—Jam city's title is an interactive story-driven experience—both games rely on the Harry Potter fan base's willingness to engage with the franchise on mobile devices. Based on what we've seen from Hogwarts Mystery to date, the prospects for both games look bright indeed.
