Scopely's "MONOPOLY GO!", the made-for-mobile reimagining of Hasbro's beloved board game, has hit an extraordinary milestone, crossing $3 billion in gross revenue, according to Sensor Tower's Store Intelligence estimates. This massive achievement underscores the game's exceptional popularity and success worldwide -- as the most successful mobile game launch of all time.

Since debuting in April 2023, “MONOPOLY GO!” has become a mobile sensation that has captivated players around the world and united a global community of MONOPOLY fans. With the consistent introduction of new features, in-game events, and more, players continue to discover a unique competitive experience that celebrates teamwork and connection. 

The Fastest Mobile Game to Hit $3 Billion Ever

“MONOPOLY GO!” achieved an unprecedented milestone by becoming the fastest game to reach $3 billion in worldwide consumer spending, accomplishing this feat in just 473 days after its official global launch on April 11, 2023 (per Sensor Tower's Store Intelligence estimates). Notably, this calculation excludes any period of pre-launch or closed/open beta testing. In comparison, the next two fastest games “Genshin Impact” took 594 days, while “Monster Strike” reached this mark in 998 days, making “MONOPOLY GO!”'s achievement even more remarkable.

“MONOPOLY GO!” Captivates Diverse Audiences with Innovative Gameplay and Strong Social Features

“MONOPOLY GO!” distinguishes itself from other games with its incorporation of team events (co-operative), Coin Looters mechanics, vibrant 3D art, universal tabletop-themed gameplay presented from a top-down view, and more. Designed to captivate adult audiences of all ages, it emphasizes social and community interaction and regular updates, ensuring a consistently fresh and engaging experience for players. The game typically attracts a millennial and above demographic, with only one fifth of players under the age of 25. In fact, the average player age is estimated to be 35 years old. This unique blend of gameplay elements, frequent content updates, and enhanced social features attracts a broad audience, making it a standout in the mobile gaming world.

“MONOPOLY GO!” has seen significant success in terms of downloads, particularly in the United States. The U.S. leads in downloads, accounting for 34 percent (47 million) of the estimated 137 million downloads, with France following at 6 percent (7.7 million) and the United Kingdom at 5.5 percent (7.5 million) across the App Store and Google Play. The game's revenue is also predominantly driven by U.S. users, who contribute a staggering 77 percent of the total revenue, amounting to $2.32 billion. The United Kingdom follows with a contribution of 4 percent, or $120 million, in sales. Maybe more importantly than downloads, is player engagement and retention with 10 million people playing each day.

“MONOPOLY GO!” is the outcome of seven years of finesse and creativity before the game launched worldwide last year. The company has discussed that journey and the dedication and commitment the team has had, and continues to have, to an exceptional player experience.

As Scopely co-CEO Walter Driver has shared, “There’s an old saying that most overnight successes were actually a decade in the making, and for ‘MONOPOLY GO!’ that’s very much true -- it was a long journey from starting to think about this game until global launch…”

Scopely has shared that more than 300 million friend invites have been sent to date and players have passed “GO” more than 100 billion times, landed in jail more than 15 billion times, and destroyed more than 50 billion landmarks, highlighting the deep engagement and fun this game brings to people around the globe.
