More than a million iOS users have taken flight in Sky: Children of the Light, the latest title from revered indie developer thatgamecompany, Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data shows. The game surpassed this milestone within just five days of its July 18 release.
This already places Sky ahead of the developer's first mobile release, Flower, which hit iOS in September 2017 from Annapurna Interactive, and has been installed by approximately 80,000 players to date. Unlike Sky, Flower is a paid app with a one-time $4.99 price tag.
Flower has grossed close to $400,000 since its launch in fall 2017. In its first five days, Sky is estimated to have brought in approximately $175,000 or about 44 percent of that amount. Sky offers in-app purchases that are focused on non-essential aspects such as customization. The entirety of the game can be played without monetizing, which makes its performance to date all the more impressive.
Sky is currently No. 28 for downloads among all iOS games in the United States, but is ranked even higher in Japan and South Korea where it sits at No. 6 and No. 4, respectively. The game is currently available for pre-registration on Google Play but has yet to be given a concrete release date there.
