Indie-developed farm life simulator Stardew Valley arrived on iOS late last month with more than two years of critical acclaim on PC and consoles backing it up. Now we can report that the glowing praise—along with prime featuring from Apple—has resulted in a stellar first month for the premium game, as Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data shows it has already grossed $1 million three weeks in.
According to our estimates, players in the United States make up the majority of the game's early adopters on mobile at about 41 percent of copies sold so far. Japan comprises about 12 percent of spending to date.
While developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone and publisher Chucklefish have done an admirable job translating the game to the iPhone's pocket-sized screen, our data reveals that nearly 25 percent of Stardew Valley's mobile purchases have been made on iPads.
