Growth Opportunities for Google Classroom in Key European Markets

Google Classroom can grow more in key European countries such as France, Turkey, and Germany, where it controlled a negligible share of the mobile School Communication market in the first three quarters of 2022.

Our App Overlap module reveals that, on Android, users of certain Google apps have an increased chance of using Google Classroom over a period of 30 days when compared to consumers who don’t use those apps. Apps such as Google Meet and Google Drive lead to a 23.5 percent and 4.2 percent increased chance, respectively.

France, Turkey, and Germany were among the top 10 European markets for downloads of Google Meet and within the top five for installs of Google Drive in the first three quarters of 2022. Given this increased likelihood of use and Google’s overall footprint in these countries, Google Classroom may have significant opportunities to grow its market share further in these markets.
