Top 10 Worldwide Mobile Games By Revenue and Downloads in December 2024

Last War:Survival moved up four positions to claim the top revenue-generating mobile game globally in December 2024, while Pokémon TCG Pocket landed as the second-highest-grossing mobile game worldwide. MONOPOLY GO! followed closely in third place. Rounding out the top five by revenue are Royal Match and Roblox respectively.

According to Sensor Tower's App Performance Insights, FirstFun's Last War:Survival  claimed the top-grossing global mobile game position in December 2024. This achievement was driven in part by the Christmas Celebration event, launched on December 23, which introduced festive activities and exclusive rewards. Additionally, the publisher ramped up user acquisition efforts, heavily investing in advertising across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok during the same period. Together, these initiatives drove a surge in player engagement and spending, resulting in the game’s highest-performing week for in-app purchase revenue to-date.

Pokémon TCG Pocket, a mobile adaptation of the iconic collectible card game, claimed the #2 spot in worldwide revenue rankings following its successful launch in late November 2024. The Mythical Island update on December 17 introduced exclusive card packs featuring rare Pokémon and limited-time rewards, sparking a surge in in-app purchases. Shortly after, the Mass Outbreak Event on December 26 provided players with increased opportunities to encounter and battle specific Pokémon, further boosting engagement and spending. These well-executed strategies have driven the game’s global gross revenue to over $390 million to-date, with key contributions from Japan, the United States, France, Taiwan, and Germany.

Scopely’s MONOPOLY GO! ranked third, Royal Match came in fourth and Roblox took the fifth spot respectively.

In December 2024, global consumer spending on mobile games through the App Store and Google Play reached an estimated $6.98 billion, reflecting a 5.1% growth compared to the previous month. The U.S. remained the highest revenue market for mobile games worldwide, recording approximately $2.2 billion, equivalent to 31.8% of worldwide revenue. The Chinese iOS market came second with 15.6% of the revenue, followed by the Japanese market at 15.6%.

miHoYo’s Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero achieved exceptional revenue growth during the holiday season, driven by major updates and events. Honkai: Star Rail gained significant traction with the release of version 2.7  on December 4, featuring a new story arc, and the highly anticipated debut of Fugue, a new character, on December 25. Meanwhile, Zenless Zone Zero introduced version 1.4, adding S-Rank Agents Asaba Harumasa and Hoshimi Miyabi, along with a new chapter, Storm of Falling Stars. These updates propelled Honkai: Star Rail to climb 24 positions to rank #18, while Zenless Zone Zero jumped 34 positions to #22 in December’s global revenue rankings. Both games also stood out in terms of growth, ranking fourth and sixth, respectively, for the month.

GIRLS' FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM, a Turn-based RPG, climbed to the #5 spot for worldwide revenue growth in December 2024, ranking as the #38 game globally by revenue. Published by HaoPlay, the game launched in China in December 2023 and expanded globally a year later, receiving strong reception in markets such as Japan, the United States, South Korea, and Thailand. During its global rollout, the game generated over $29 million in in-app purchase revenue, led by contributions from Japan, South Korea, the United States, and Taiwan. Its high production values, post-apocalypse sci-fi setting, and distinctive character designs have resonated with mid-core audiences, fueling its rapid rise on the global stage.

Top 10 Worldwide Mobile Game Download Rankings for December 2024

Garena Free Fire held its position as the most downloaded mobile game globally. Block Blast! ranked second, followed by Roblox, Subway Surfers, and Pokémon TCG Pocket which completed the top five by downloads.

According to Sensor Tower's App Performance Insights, Garena Free Fire was the most downloaded mobile game globally in December 2024, adding over 35.2 million downloads and pushing its lifetime total to an impressive 1.82 billion. India accounted for 42% of these new downloads, followed by Indonesia at 17.8% and Brazil at 6.3%. The Winterlands: Aurora event, commencing on December 4, transformed the Bermuda map with a frosty theme and introduced a new character named Koda, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Block Blast!, a Block puzzle game published by Hungry Studio, secured the #2 spot for worldwide downloads in December 2024, amassing 367 million downloads to-date since its launch in March 2022. Popular in markets such as the United States, India, Brazil, Indonesia, and the Philippines, the game’s minimalist flat art style and tabletop-themed setting continue to appeal to hypercasual audiences. Throughout 2024, Hungry Studio’s user acquisition strategy relied heavily on social media, with Instagram and TikTok playing critical roles. According to Sensor Tower’s Pathmatics Advertising insights, in December alone TikTok accounted for over 90% of the game’s ad impressions in the United States, showcasing the platform’s role in reaching its core audience and driving the game’s sustained success.

The remaining titles in the top 5 by downloads are Roblox, Subway Surfers, and Pokémon TCG Pocket respectively.

In December 2024, there were over 4.18 billion mobile game downloads worldwide from the App Store and Google Play, representing a 6.4% increase compared to the previous month. India ranked first among markets, recording 647 million downloads, accounting for 15.5% of global downloads. The United States was second with 8.2%, and Brazil was third with 7.8%.

In December, two notable mobile games — Squid Game: Unleashed and Infinity Nikki  secured spots among the top 10 games in terms of download growth. 

Squid Game: Unleashed, a Battle Royale game published by Netflix, ranked #6 for worldwide downloads growth. Released on December 17, the free-to-play game, inspired by Netflix's hit series, quickly became the most downloaded action game on the iOS App Store and Google Play in the US. Globally, it has over 10 million downloads to-date, with leading markets such as the United States, Brazil, India, Mexico, and France, highlighting the strong impact of popular IP on mobile game success.

Infinity Nikki, an Open World Adventure game by Paper Games, the creators of Love and Deepspace, secured the #8 spot for worldwide downloads growth. With its high-fantasy adventure setting, dynamic camera perspective, and 3D anime art style, the game has resonated with fans of the studio’s earlier titles. Since its global release in December 2024, Infinity Nikki has surpassed 5.5 million downloads, driven by strong adoption in China, the United States, Japan, and Thailand.
