Top Language Apps Worldwide for 2018

The most downloaded language app worldwide for 2018 was Duolingo with more than 50 million new installs. The countries where the app received its most installs were the United States and Brazil, at 18 percent and 10 percent of all downloads, respectively. On the revenue side, the U.S. and Great Britain were its highest grossing markets at more than $10 million and $1.8 million, respectively. The full ranking of the top 10 most downloaded language apps is above. App download estimates are from Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform.

U-Dictionary was the second most downloaded language app worldwide with more than 27 million installs and close to a 3x growth from the previous year. The next most downloaded app was Babbel, followed by Liulishuo and Memrise.
