If your app marketing plan involves paid ads or will involve paid ads in the future, then this post is for you. We recently added an Ad Spending module that will help you keep track of what you are spending on ads.
This post will show you how to get started with tracking your spending, other ad metrics that you can also track, which ad platforms are available and why this is important to app publishers like you.
Log into your Sensor Tower account and select the Ad Spending menu item from the slide out menu on the left side of the screen.
When you get to the Ad Spending module screen, click on the Add Account button.
A dialog box will appear that will allow you to connect different accounts.
The App Store buttons at the top will add your iTunes Connect or Google Play accounts. This will allow you to track your app's statistics in the Downloads and Revenue module.
It is important that you track your downloads and revenue. We will get into why a little later in this post.
Under the App Store section is the Ad Platform section. It shows the ad platforms that you can (or will be able to) track in Sensor Tower.

iAd tracking is available right now. If you add your credentials for the other platforms, your login data will be securely encrypted and stored in your profile.
As soon as we add a connected ad platform to the Ad Spending module, your data will start to appear. We recommend adding all of your ad platforms right now so you get access to the data as soon as it is available.
Once your accounts are connected, you will be able to track metrics like spending, taps, conversions and more.
The obvious benefit of this new module is that more of your data will be available in the same place. This will streamline your workflow because you won't have to log into multiple accounts to get vital information about your app marketing.
Since you are also able to add multiple ad platforms to our dashboard, you can also see which ad networks are performing the best. This might not always be immediately apparent if you have to login to multiple accounts. Cutting the lowest performing platforms can increase your Return On Investment (ROI).
But the most important benefit is that you will now be able to see how both your ad spending and your keyword rankings are affecting your downloads. Since you are already tracking your app store data in our Downloads and Revenue module, the new Ad Spending module will fill in the missing data that has not been available on our platform until now.
For example, let's say that you improve your keyword rankings and your downloads increase, but your ad spending and conversion rates stay the same. If you are not doing any other type of marketing, then your App Store Optimization is probably responsible for the increase in downloads.
When used in conjunction with our keyword modules and the Downloads and Revenue module, the Ad Spending module will give you a more complete picture of what it is working in your app marketing.
