Travel Remains a Go in 2023

Travel demand remains strong into 2023 despite slowing consumer spend and rising inflation and interest rates, according to a report. Booking Holdings reported January gross bookings and room nights were up 74% and 60% YoY, respectively, while Airbnb and Expedia's management teams commented on the rebound in January, which is growing at a faster pace than Q4 2022. However, 4Q22 results were mixed, with Booking and Airbnb seeing upside while Expedia struggled due to the Dec'22 winter storm. Airbnb has struggled to maintain user engagement, while Booking, Tripadvisor and Expedia have seen a rebound in average session count.
