Less than six months after Sensor Tower Store Intelligence estimates revealed the game had crossed the $1 billion gross revenue mark, Lineage 2: Revolution from Netmarble has surpassed $1.5 billion in global player spending. The game was launched in South Korea just over two years ago in December 2016 and has grossed more than $900 million from players there since then.
Japan has proven to be the game's second largest market by revenue, accounting for about 23 percent or approximately $345 million of spending to date. While four of its top five markets are in Asia—South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong—its fourth largest is the United States. While the region only accounts for about 3 percent of revenue, that still amounts to more than $45 million so far.
Lineage 2: Revolution has generated its impressive $1.5 billion sum from a proportionally small base of approximately 28.5 million life-to-date installs, putting its average gross revenue per install at a sizable $52 per player.
Sensor Tower data shows Lineage 2: Revolution at No. 26 for worldwide mobile game revenue in December 2018. Among all apps, it ranked No. 30 overall.
