According to Sensor Tower's App Performance Insights, Honor of Kings by Tencent reclaimed the top-grossing mobile game position globally in April 2025, climbing four positions from the previous month. Last War:Survival rose to the second-highest-grossing position, followed by Whiteout Survival, MONOPOLY GO!, and Royal Match rounding out the top five.

Honor of Kings reclaimed the top revenue spot, a testament to the publisher's continuous content innovation and strategic IP collaborations. This resurgence in April was likely fueled by the Five-Five Friends Festival, which featured a highly anticipated Sanrio partnership, engaging new gameplay modes, and a compelling new Arthur skin, demonstrating Tencent’s commitment to fresh and appealing content.

Live ops with seasonal themes are key for player engagement and monetization. Last War:Survival 's second-place rise likely benefited from engaging events like the Easter Event,  offering a new castle skin and valuable boosts, capitalizing on seasonal interest. Similarly, despite a slight ranking drop, Whiteout Survival's consistent delivery of engaging events, including the Easter event and the substantial Snowbusters update, likely sustained its strong top-three position in April 2025 by keeping the gameplay experience fresh and appealing.

MONOPOLY GO! held its strong fourth place, continuing to leverage engaging social features and regular events, exemplified in April by the return of City Racers and the Adventure Club Vikings! events. Royal Match, while down a few spots, remains a top-five contender, demonstrating the strength of its puzzle gameplay and frequent updates.

Honkai: Star Rail showed the most significant revenue growth rank among top titles, jumping 24 positions. Block Blast!'s continued dominance in downloads highlights the broad appeal of its accessible puzzle mechanics and effective user acquisition strategies across key markets like the United States, India, and Indonesia; for instance, the game maintained strong visibility in Indonesia, ranking as the 2nd game by advertiser’s share of voice on TikTok in April after holding the top spot in March. ROBLOX's ascent to the second position highlights its enduring popularity and ability to draw new users through its extensive user-generated content and social experiences. This momentum in April 2025 was further amplified by popular branded experiences such as the launch of NFL Universe Football and the continued appeal of the Sanrio IP within Cinnamoroll Cloud Land, demonstrating the power of established brands in attracting and retaining players.

Free Fire maintained its strong download momentum at #3, particularly in markets like India, Brazil, and Indonesia, driven by its regular updates and engaging battle royale gameplay, further supported in late April by the 'Midnight Ace Is Here!' event, which introduced a new character and treasure hunts

Subway Surfers held steady at #4, continuing to attract a global audience with its simple yet addictive endless runner gameplay. Ludo King also maintained its position, showcasing the enduring appeal of classic board games in the mobile space, particularly in markets like India and Indonesia.

In April, global mobile game downloads reached 3.93 billion, marking a 8.4% decrease from the previous month. India led with 739 million downloads (18.8% of total), followed by the U.S and Indonesia, both around 7.5% of the market share.

Delta Force saw the largest surge in global downloads, reaching #1 in growth and #6 overall. This massive increase, especially strong in the US and Brazil, indicates a highly successful global launch in April 2025. This was likely amplified by a coordinated pre-registration campaign and global rollout, capitalizing on its innovative FPS/TPS gameplay and the nostalgia for the classic NovaLogic PC FPS.

Cookingdom a simulator game, also saw remarkable download growth, surging to the #2 position in download growth and reaching #8 in absolute downloads, indicating strong initial interest in its simulator gameplay, especially in the United States, Brazil, and Indonesia, likely driven by appealing visuals and satisfying progression loops common in popular cooking simulation games.

NetEase’s survival game Once Human, a mobile adaptation of last year's successful PC launch, quickly gained traction, ranking #5 in global download growth after its April 2025 launch. This title has seen strong initial engagement in key markets like China, the US, Japan, Mexico, and Brazil, successfully attracting mid-core players with its unique 3D sci-fi survival experience and demonstrating the potential of cross-platform IP expansion.

The strong growth of Delta Force and Cookingdom, plus the successful mobile adaptation Once Human and other new entrants, highlights the mobile games market's dynamism, with their success underscoring established gameplay appeal, cross-platform adaptation impact, and the importance of preregistration, global rollout, and social media marketing for high downloads.
