Top Mobile Games Worldwide for January 2021 by Downloads

Join Clash 3D from Supersonic Studios was the most downloaded mobile game worldwide for January 2021 with 27 million installs, which represented a more than 3,300 times increase from January 2020. The countries with the most installs of the app during this period were India at 38.3 percent of its total downloads and Indonesia at 6.4 percent. The full top 10 ranking of mobile games worldwide by downloads for January 2021 is above. Game download estimates are from Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform.

Among Us from InnerSloth was the second most installed mobile game worldwide last month with 26 million installs, which represented a more than 20 times increase from January 2020. The countries with the largest number of Among Us installs were the United States at 15.5 percent, followed by Brazil at approximately 8 percent. DOP 2 from Say Games, Sushi Roll 3D from Say Games, and Project Makeover from Bubblegum Games rounded out the top five most installed mobile games worldwide for the month.

January 2021 marked the first time since August that Among Us hasn’t taken top spot in the mobile game download rankings. While installs have declined since a peak of approximately 83 million in September, the title remains hugely popular, and by January 31, 2021 it had accumulated 322.5 million lifetime downloads from the App Store and Google Play.

Project Makeover, meanwhile, continues to make a splash following a strong global launch in November. The puzzle game, which the Sensor Tower Game Taxonomy shows blends the Puzzle & Decorate subgenre with the Fashion theme, has struck gold with the combination, quickly becoming one of the hottest new games on the market. In January, the title generated 22.2 million downloads globally, an increase of 57 percent from December. Last month, the title also picked up $44.7 million from player spending, marking its best month yet for both installs and revenue.
