Calm Revenue

Helping mobile users be more mindful is proving to be an increasingly lucrative venture for the creators of meditation app Calm. Based on Sensor Tower Store Intelligence estimates, more than $60 million has been spent in the app so far by users, with approximately $26 million of that grossed during the first half of this year, a 306 percent increase over 1H 2017.

Our data reveals that this is about four times as much revenue as the app saw in the first half of 2017, with users then spending approximately $6.4 million on guided meditation content. As for who is spending most prolifically, that would be users in the United States, who have contributed about 63 percent of the app's revenue to date. Great Britain is the app's second largest market, albeit considerably smaller at close to 10 percent of all revenue earned.

By comparison, Calm's primary rival in this growing segment of apps, Headspace, has grossed approximately $68 million so far.
